Kern This

Ok, I literally shrieked when I saw this in the March/April 08 (I'm a little behind on my magazine reading) Stepmagazine. I have to have this shirt. Way to go DRDC, I'm such a fan. I've got your Hold Steady poster up in my living room right now. |DBK

Drawings and Other Objects

UK based designer and illustrator James Joyce is all over the map these days. He's been commissioned to do work for the likes of Nike, Kiehl's, and Penguin Books. His first solo gallery exhibition, Drawings and Other Objects, opened last week at London's Kemistry Gallery. Featured here from top to bottom: Positive Light, Oh Me Oh My, and a commissioned piece from Howies. Any idea how much would a round trip ticket to London costs? Anyone? [via It's Nice That] |DBK

Seduction

This is gorgeous poster was designed by Michael Bierut and Marian Bantjes for Yale School of Architecture, but it can now be seen at the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum. It has been chosen as one of twelve items to represent the Rococo influence in the 2000s. More about the Seduction symposium poster and the exhibit here. [via Pentagram] |DBK

Teacake and Blueberry Scones

UK based design studio Teacake likes to have some fun when they work, and it shows. Their portfolio is simultaneously whimsical and sophisticated. From top to bottom: A poster that serves as an homage to Akzidenz-Grotesk, screen printed with 94 categories of porn surrounding the typeface (yes, I said porn); An exploration of "ugly type," the result of a collaboration with Dutch typographer Ewald Spieker; and one in a series of posters promoting local produce and responsible consumerism. Seems like they've covered it all, from anime porn to organic tomatoes. You can see more of their portfolio at TeacakeDesign.com. [via The Serif] |DBK
