I've been a fan of Brooklyn-based design firm Hyperakt for a while. I especially dig that they are driven to create work that effects change in the world. Here's an example of a recent project—an invitation to the White House Project's Epic Awards. The event is a celebration of women's leadership in media and popular culture. It's a great use of color and form to create a sculptural piece. Really beautiful work. More photos here. |DBK
I love these new posters for the Woolly Mammoth Theatre by designer Carolyn Sewell. According to Carolyn, "the inspiration for the overall illustration style came from the client's logo (see here), which has a great cut-paper quality about it. After many attempts to figure out Woolly's "look" we landed on a sharp-edged, flat-colored illustration that both the client and I felt tied in nicely with their logo." |DBK
